Angel: A Woman’s Diary - Chapter 1
(Black Lotus records)

In the mood for a bit of goth style atmosphere, then you're in the right place. This is damn good goth rock with stunning vocals ranging from clean singing to borderline operatic. They even throw in some orchestral moments just in case they didn't have enough going on for your liking. In fact, this album gets a little too weird for me at times, which is why this review has taken so bloody long for me to write. It's out there just enough to cause writer's block even though I want to heap quite a bit of praise on it.

If Angel reminds me of anything it would be a more goth version of the last couple records by The Gathering combined with just a hint of Miranda Sex Garden. The big difference between Angel and MSG would be the vocals though as MSG use multiple vocalists for all of their vocals and Angel rely on Helena Michaelson for everything, but she does it beautifully.

I feel like I'm doing this album a disservice in this review but no matter how many times I listen to it I still don't know what to say about it other than it's really fucking good. Now I'm going to go read a dictionary so I don't run out of words trying to review their next album.
